These sterling silver split rings open like a tiny keychain ring. Basically a deluxe jump ring that's been pulled around a form twice before ending. Very useful when you need some added security over a jump ring, but don't have the opportunity to solder a jump ring closed.

To attach a jewelry component to a split ring, use small pair of split ring pliers or a fingernail to lever open one side, attach your component and string it through two turns until it's all the way in the center of the ring. You can use these as you would regular jump rings; with earrings, charms, beads, chains, bails, and more.
