What an Amazing Show in Calgary this year!We offered our FREE stone setting service during the Calgary Rock & Lapidary Club 58th Annual Show held May 4-6, 2018. Anybody that had stones or had purchased stones at the show were invited to have their stones set into our setting findings or we'd teach them how to set these themselves. Watch the video on the left to get a sense of our busy weekend.We've met many very creative jewellery artists. Some were existing customers that are always so happy to meet with us face-to-face when we exhibit at the shows in Calgary, and others became new and happy customers.So many stones were set into pendants, earrings, rings and all of them looked beautiful! Ring set at the Toronto Gem & Mineral Spring Show 2018During the show, we offered our FREE stone setting service to anyone interested in having their stones set or we showed them how to set these themselves into our setting findings.We set and helped set a lot more stones into our settings findings than we have pictures for because we were so busy helping customers.Mark Lareau is working very hard!As you can see for yourself, the results speak for themselves. The feedback we received from customers who chose to have their stones set into our findings, was very positive. The creativity this time was off the charts!There was, as always, some discussion about stone setting techniques in general.Almost immediately, the students went off onto a few unexpected tangents.
Using parts in unusual (and unintended) ways student turned their loose drilled pearls and some chain into some stunning statement pieces.
Modifying and customizing some pieces by soldering earring post basket settings onto a ring to convert it from being designed for a cabochon into one perfect for a great cut stone.Another great customization was using the same basket setting soldered onto one of our tube beads to create a gorgeous centerpiece.One of the most fun aspects of Jewelry Corner is seeing all the ways people use our products, especially when they're being used in such unexpected, creative ways!Stay tuned for more dates coming soon!Share your thoughts and ideas directly in the comments.
